Uganda premier League joint top scorer Muhammed Ssenoga Kagawa is on the verge of completing a move to Rwandan giants Rayon Sports in what would be one of the notable cross-border transfers of the season.
The Express FC forward has been in fine scoring form, finding the net six times in just 10 league appearances, a run that has attracted strong interest beyond Uganda.
Clubs from Rwanda and the Kenya Premier League have been monitoring his progress, but Rayon Sports have now emerged as the frontrunners to secure his signature.
Kagawa is expected to add cutting edge to the Gikundiro attack as the Kigali-based side intensify their push for the Rwanda Premier League crown, a title that has eluded them since 2019.
Rayon Sports currently sit fifth on the table with 17 points from 11 matches, still within touching distance of the leading pack.
The striker brings with him vast domestic experience, having previously featured for KCCA FC, SC Villa and Tooro United, as well as Katale FC and Entebbe FC during his rise through the lower divisions.
Should the move be finalized, Kagawa will join a growing contingent of Ugandan players in Rwanda’s top flight.
The list includes established names such as Emmanuel Okwi, Nicholas Ssebwato, Dennis Omedi and Ronald Ssekiganda, alongside Hakim Kiwanuka, Eric Ssenjobe, Faizo Kazibwe and Robert Mukhoghotya, further underlining the strong Ugandan presence in the Rwanda Premier League.
