Former Mamelodi Sundowns skipper Hlompho Kekana has advised Kaizer Chiefs to utilise a “Stoke City mentality” if they are to survive the challenge of facing Betway Premiership leaders Sundowns.
The former Bafana Bafana midfielder said this in a podcast previewing Saturday’s game between Chiefs and Sundowns.
“If I was a coach I would go with a defensive mentality. I would go for Stoke City mentality—nine defenders and one striker,” Kekana said.
However, fellow panelists Teko Modise and George Lebese suggested that it is impossible to stop the prolific attack of Sundowns: “I wouldn’t want to be in the changing room of Kaizer Chiefs because who do you stop? [However], in the camp they know who to stop,” Kekana said.
Chiefs lie in eighth place on the log table, 26 points behind Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso and his charges.
