Kaizer Chiefs have officially announcing the signings of former Orlando Pirates fullbacks Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako ahead of the new 2025/26 season.
The duo arrives at Naturena on free transfers after their contracts expired with the Buccaneers.
Their arrival builds on an already active transfer window for Amakhosi, who previously confirmed the signing of left-back Nkanyiso Shinga. Attackers Flavio Silva and Ethan Chislett were also unveiled as recent recruits, further strengthening the squad.
The 31-year-old Mako, was unveiled on Thursday ahead of Amakhosi’s pre-season trip to the Netherlands. Mako spent almost a decade at Pirates, making 173 appearances, contributing two goals and eight assists, while also clinching six trophies.
On the other hand, Monyane was at Pirates for six seasons before making the switch to Chiefs.
The 25-year-old academy graduate from Pirates is set to join Chiefs for their pre-season tour in the Netherlands. Unfortunately, Mako is unlikely to travel immediately due to a reported two-week injury layoff but is expected to link up with the team upon their return from overseas.

Monyane and Mako are Glamour Boys,” said Chiefs on their website. “Kaizer Chiefs are delighted to announce the signings of Thabiso Monyane and Paseka Mako as their two new acquisitions…
“Previously with Orlando Pirates, the pair bring valuable experience to Naturena, having won trophies and participated in the CAF Champions League in recent seasons.
“Mako, born in Zebediela, Limpopo, plays as a left wingback, while Monyane operates as a right back in the defensive line. The duo will reinforce Amakhosi’s rear guard with their versatility and work rate.”
The Soweto giants will travel to the Netherlands tonight for a pre-season training camp.
The Glamour Boys are set to kick off their pre-season tour in the Netherlands with a match against SBV Vitesse Arnhem on July 8.
This will be followed by a game against FC Utrecht three days later, and then NEC Nijmegen on July 12. After a short break, Chiefs will face PEC Zwolle on July 15, concluding their tour the following day with a match against FC Twente Enschede.
