Kaizer Chiefs captain Inacio Miguel has issued a rallying cry, stating that the team must put aside any potential complaints about conditions and focus entirely on delivering a crucial victory in their first-leg CAF Confederation Cup clash against AS Simba in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Soweto giants landed in Lubumbashi, DR Congo, on Thursday afternoon, setting the stage for their challenging second preliminary round match this Saturday at 15:00 (SA time).
They will face the Linafoot side at the formidable Stade TP Mazembe, a venue notorious for its small artificial pitch, intimidating atmosphere, and physically demanding playing conditions.

Miguel emphasised that while the environment might be “a bit complicated,” excuses are not an option as they chase a spot in the group stages.
“It’s a bit complicated, but there’s no time to complain about the weather or the pitch,” Miguel stated firmly. “It’s time to focus on our mission. We’ve come here [to Congo] with a goal, so our focus right now is to win on Saturday.”
The Angolan defender, whose side edged past Kabuscorp in the previous round, stressed that the team has learned from past continental errors and will not repeat them.
“We learned from our mistakes [in Angola], it’s part of the process… we can’t make those same mistakes. We’re focused on coming back with a win to be more relaxed for the second leg. That’s going to require hard work, commitment, and I think all of us are prepared for that.”
The defender confirmed that Chiefs are fully aware of what AS Simba will bring, anticipating a physical, high-intensity battle in the confined space of the TP Mazembe Stadium.
“We know Simba are very physical, they play in a small stadium, so many long balls, duels. We are ready for that – we are working on it, and we will do it,” he concluded.
The decisive first-leg fixture kicks off on Saturday at 15:00 SAST as Amakhosi begin their quest to secure an all-important away advantage.
