Kaizer Chiefs announce venues for remaining CAF home fixtures

Kaizer Chiefs have finalised their logistical roadmap for a season-defining month, confirming that Durban and Polokwane will host their final two home stands in the CAF Confederation Cup group stages.

As the squad returns to the training pitch following the AFCON break, the message from Naturena is clear: there is no room for error. Currently sitting on a solitary point after two matches in Group D, the Glamour Boys face a steep climb to secure a place in the knockout rounds.

The Road to Redemption For Kaizer Chiefs

The continental “rescue mission” begins on the road on January 25, when Amakhosi travel to Ndola to face Zambia’s Zesco United. However, it is the subsequent home fixtures that will likely determine their fate.

To maximise their home-ground advantage and reach their vast national fanbase, Chiefs have opted to take their CAF assignments away from Johannesburg:

Sunday, 1 February: Kaizer Chiefs vs. Zesco United – Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban (15:00)

Sunday, 8 February: Kaizer Chiefs vs. Al Masry – New Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane (15:00)

The group stage concludes with a daunting trip to Egypt to face Zamalek SC on February 15.

Kaizer Chiefs: Juggling Domestic and Continental Duties

While the CAF Confederation Cup is a priority, Arthur Zwane’s men must also navigate a congested domestic schedule. Before they jet off to Zambia, they will resume their Betway Premiership campaign on January 20 against Golden Arrows at FNB Stadium—just 48 hours after the 2025 AFCON final.

Chiefs currently occupy fourth place in the league, trailing leaders Orlando Pirates by four points. With the Nedbank Cup also looming, the club’s depth will be tested to the limit.

The Glamour Boys are desperate for a win after a slow start to the campaign. Their journey began with a narrow 2-1 loss to Al Masry in Egypt, followed by a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Zamalek in Polokwane. With a goal difference of minus-one, maximum points in Durban and Polokwane are now non-negotiable if they are to advance.

“The team has kicked off the new year hard at work,” the club said in an official statement. “We are sharpening our preparation for a demanding schedule… leaving little room for rest as we strive to excel in all three competitions.”
