Kaizer Chiefs’ playing squad has dedicated the 2025 Nedbank Cup trophy to the Betway Premiership team’s chairman Kaizer Motaung Senior.
The squad presented the trophy, which they won over the weekend, to Motaung at the team’s base of Naturena in Johannesburg on Wednesday.
“We had to bring it home. Today, we celebrated with the Chairman, Dr. Motaung, as both our Senior and Reserve Teams handed him a medal and a trophy,” the club’s statement reads.
“This one is dedicated to you, Dr. Motaung, and to our very special army of supporters, the millions of Amakhosi faithful, who love and serve this brand. To our Chairman, you are our Champion, we love you.”
Coach Nasreddine Nabi, his coaching staff and reserve team members plus club directors witnessed the ceremony.
The cup exploits eased the pressure on Nasreddine Nabi whose future appeared in doubt after indifferent league performances. Chiefs beat old age rivals Orlando Pirates 2-1 in the final to win the first silverware in a decade.
The Glamour Boys are enduring one of their worst seasons in the Betway Premiership, lying in ninth place in the log table, 27 points behind runaway leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
