With the season on break, most teams are strategizing for next season on and off the pitch, with Kaizer Chiefs hosting ZESCO United’s delegation from Zambia at Naturena.
ZESCO’s delegation visited the South African giants’ base on Friday in a benchmarking exercise, signalling a potential strategic partnership.
Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Junior told the club’s media that the delegation from ZESCO visited the Soweto-based side to explore future partnership prospects.
“For us, it is important to build strategic partnerships with teams on the continent, so it was good for us to interact with and exchange ideas with Mr. Sibalwa and his delegation,” Motaung said.
ZESCO Technical Director, Honour Janza, described the visit to the Naturena village facility as an eye-opener.
“We are grateful to Chiefs for hosting us. We are very impressed with their facilities and are hoping to continue working with them in the future on various projects,” he said.
The Zesco delegation was accompanied by Chiefs’ former Zambia striker, Collins Mbesuma, who won two league titles with AmaKhosi in 2003/04 and 2004/05.
The ZESCO delegation also comprised ZESCO Board Member Muntanga Sibalwa, Board Member Milton Syulikwa, Finance Manager, Chipasha Bwalya, and Brian Mupeyama (Head of Administration).
Chiefs and ZESCO have both qualified for the 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup.
