Kaizer Chiefs in talks to sign Percy Tau

South Africa national team forward Percy Tau in action against Nigeria at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations

Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly already entered into negotiations to sign forward Percy Tau during the summer transfer window.

The South African international is now a free agent after leaving Qatar SC, who signed him from Egypt's Al Ahly SC last January on a six-month contract. His contract with the Qatari club has not been renewed.

A potential move to Chiefs for Tau continues to be a major topic of discussion. Pan-Africa Football's Martin T previously reported that Tau publicly stated in a radio interview that R450,000 ($25,190) per month would be an acceptable salary after the host proposed a hypothetical offer.

Tau played 126 matches for Al Ahly SC, scoring 30 goals and providing 14 assists. With Al Ahly, he won the Egyptian Premier League twice, the Egyptian Cup twice, the Egyptian Super Cup four times, the CAF Champions League twice, the CAF Super Cup once, and the Intercontinental Cup (FIFA African-Asian-Pacific Cup) once.

Percy Tau also won the CAF Award for African Inter-Club Player of the Year while playing for Al Ahly.
