Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze refused to be drawn into the controversy surrounding his surprising omission from Nasreddine Nabi’s recent farewell message, instead choosing to focus on maintaining the club’s momentum.
Nabi, who recently departed after a successful 15-month spell that ended the club’s decade-long trophy drought, posted a lengthy message thanking staff and management most recently, but notably excluded his assistants, Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, with whom he had a longstanding working relationship.
Despite the obvious snub, Kaze responded with measured professionalism, stating he had “no comment” on the farewell letter itself.
He was speaking to the media at the Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena as Amakhosi prepare to lock horns against Siwelele in a Betway Premiership encounter at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.

“I worked with Nabi for three seasons, and I wish him well. I told him that, and I hope that he will find something that suits him in the near future,” the Burundian coach said.
Kaze quickly shifted attention to his new mandate, asserting that he and Ben Youssef are fully equipped to take charge. He highlighted their collective experience and assured the fanbase that “continuity” is the most important objective.
“We have experience… we know the tricks of Africa… We know that we can achieve big things,” Kaze confidently stated, adding that the players are optimistic and believe in the current structure.
The new leadership structure faces an immediate test, with the team preparing for a league fixture against Siwelele FC on Wednesday, followed quickly by the crucial CAF Confederation Cup second leg on Sunday against AS Simba.
