Kaizer Chiefs release Tebogo Potsane amid squad overhaul

Kaizer Chiefs have officially parted ways with midfielder Tebogo Potsane as the Soweto giants continue to reshape their squad for the upcoming 2025/26 season.

Potsane, a right-winger, joined the Glamour Boys in July 2023 from Royal AM, a club that has since been expelled from the PSL. The 31-year-old spent two seasons with Amakhosi.

Last season, Potsane’s playing time was significantly limited by injuries, allowing him to feature in only eight matches across all competitions. Overall, during his two years at the club, he played in 19 games and contributed two assists. Consequently, both parties mutually agreed to go their separate ways.

Under coach Nasreddine Nabi, Chiefs have seen several other departures recently, including Mduduzi Mdantsane, Sabelo Radebe, Edmilson Dove, Ranga Chivaviro, and Bongani Sam. Additionally, Njabulo Blom has moved to Vietnamese V. League 1 side Thep Xanh Nam Dinh FC.

In terms of new blood, Chiefs have been active in the transfer market, recruiting Nkanyiso Shinga, Thabiso Monyane, Paseka Mako, Ethan Chislett, Siphesihle Ndlovu, and Flavio Silva for the upcoming campaign.

Kaizer Chiefs’ Official Statement

In a statement released by Chiefs on Tuesday, the club wished the former Bloemfontein Celtic star Potsane well in his future endeavours.

“As Kaizer Chiefs continue to prepare for the upcoming season, the Club and midfielder Tebogo Potsane have parted ways amicably,” said the Soweto giants. “We thank him for his contributions and wish him all the best in the future.”

Potsane is now free to join any team he chooses after receiving his clearance from Amakhosi. However, his next destination remains uncertain as the new season rapidly approaches.
