Rwanda coach fires warning to Kaizer Chiefs over Ntwari

The future of Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari has been thrust into the spotlight, with Rwanda National Team coach Adel Amrouche issuing a stark ultimatum to the Soweto giants: utilise the player or release him.

Amrouche, who holds the 26-year-old in high regard, stated that if Chiefs are not planning to play the man he considers “one of the best” goalkeepers, they should allow him to leave to ensure his talent isn’t stifled.

Since his move from TS Galaxy last season, Ntwari’s playing time at Amakhosi has been severely limited.

During the start of the 2025/26 season, the shot-stopper featured in the first seven games before the club began rotating between veterans Bruce Bvuma and Brandon Petersen. This season, his only start came in the Carling Knockout Cup against Stellenbosch FC—a match where he kept a clean sheet despite Chiefs ultimately losing on penalties.

Amrouche’s Plea for Ntwari’s Future

The Algerian coach revealed he has maintained communication with the Amakhosi technical team, including goalkeeper coach Ilyes Mzoughi, to monitor Ntwari’s condition.

“I had a good discussion with Ilyes [Mzoughi], the [goalkeeper] coach of Kaizer Chiefs… I cannot interfere in the work of the coaches, but it was just communication to see how we can keep Fiacre in good shape and also at that level of competition,” Amrouche explained.

Despite Ntwari’s lack of minutes, Amrouche has unwavering faith in his Amavubi Stars number one, describing the former TS Galaxy man as “a very talented goalkeeper, a very disciplined player and very positive.”

“In my opinion, Fiacre is one of the best goalkeepers in Africa,” Amrouche insisted, noting the player’s professional attitude. “I’ve never heard anything negative about his club from him. He loves his club.”

However, the former Taifa Stars coach concluded with his clear message to the club, emphasising that the player’s career must take precedence.

“But I think if you don’t let him play, let him go because it’s better not to stop the quality for one person like Fiacre.”
