As exclusively revealed by Pan-Africa Football, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League outfit Kakamega Homeboyz have officially confirmed the acquisition of strikers Gedeon Bendeka and Derrick Otanga ahead of the new season.
Bendeka has joined the Kakamega-based club from record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia while Otanga has arrived from KCB. A statement to announce the arrival of Congolese Bendeka said: “We are pleased to announce that the club has acquired the services of striker Gedeon Bendeka. The Congolese national joins us from Gor Mahia for the next two seasons.
“Last season, despite a handful of matches played, Bendeka was Gor Mahia’s second top scorer with six goals. He joins to add punch to our striking department ahead of the new season.”
Meanwhile, on unveiling Otanga, the club said: “We are excited to announce the signing of Derrick Otanga, the 2021/22 FKF Premier League Golden Boot winner.
“Otanga joins us from KCB FC, where he enjoyed a successful four-year spell, scoring 40 league goals. His most prolific season came in 2021/22, when he finished as the league’s top scorer with 16 goals. The previous campaign, he found the back of the net 12 times, placing him among the league’s top five scorers.
“The experienced forward joins us on a two-year contract to bolster our attack ahead of the new season. Welcome on board, Derrick.”
On top of that, Homeboyz announced securing the services of goalkeeper Edwin Mukolwe from Nairobi City Stars on a two-year deal, and defender Silas Abungana, formerly of Shabana FC.
