Sofapaka President Elly Kalekwa has delivered a different angle on the future of Kenya national U-20 team vice captain Baron Ochieng, who had already penned a pre-contract with Egyptian side Pyramids.
Pan-Africa Football exclusively reported three days ago that the defender had already penned a deal with Pyramids after their final Group B game of the U-20 AFCON against Nigeria in Cairo.
Ochieng was among the Rising Stars players who impressed at the tournament, despite Kenya's failure to progress to the quarter-finals. Kenya played three matches, losing 3-2 against Morocco in their opener, losing 3-1 against Tunisia, before signing off with an impressive 2-2 draw against seven-time champions Nigeria.
After the Flying Eagles game, a source, who did not want to be named, confirmed that Ochieng had already signed a pre-contract with Pyramids, who are in the final of the CAF Champions League.
Asked to clarify further on the situation, Batoto ba Mungu owner Kalekwa told Pan-Africa Football that Ochieng is destined for Europe in the next few weeks.
"What I know about Baron (Ochieng) is that he is headed for Europe for trials. I don't know anything to do with Egypt or Pyramids," said Kalekwa. "He already has a club that is waiting for him, and will give further details before the end of next week."
