Africa football legend Kalusha Bwalya has challenged Zambia’s Power Dynamos players to aim for excellence. The former CAF Footballer of the Year spoke to the MTN Super League champions after witnessing their 1-0 loss to South Africa’s top-flight league team, Chippa United, on Tuesday.
The former Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president, who is based in South Africa, watched the pre-season friendly at Balfour Park Stadium in Johannesburg.
A statement from Dynamos confirms that Bwalya spoke to the team’s players after the game, encouraging them to pursue excellence.
“It always brings me joy to see young players succeed and make progress in their careers. I want you to reach your full potential,” Bwalya is quoted as saying.
The former Chipolopolo skipper also advised the footballers to strive for good nutrition as they pursue their careers.
The Super League holders are in South Africa to step up preparations for their domestic title defence and participation in the 2025-2025 CAF Champions League.
Dynamos have travelled with a full squad save for Emmanuel Osoro and Samuel Ayodeji Bamidele, who will join the team later this week once their travel formalities are concluded.
The Kitwe-based club traveled without Willard Mwanza, Prince Mumba, Owen Tembo, Dominic Chanda, and Fredrick Mulambia who are on national team duty. However, Lombe Mutale, Jericho Mwila, and Samba Bakolele have been left behind as they are recovering from injuries.
