Kampala Queens officially crowned 2024/25 FUFA Women Super League champions

Kampala Queens FC were officially crowned champions of the 2024/25 FUFA Women Super League on Tuesday afternoon at the Phillip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo, wrapping up a dominant campaign in style.

In their final match of the season, the “Queens of Soccer” played out a 1-1 draw against a resilient She Maroons side in what was a closely contested fixture. Shamirah Nalugya gave Kampala Queens the lead midway through the first half, converting from the penalty spot to send the home crowd into celebration. However, She Maroons found a second-half equalizer through Phionah Atono, ensuring the spoils were shared.

While the result had no bearing on the final standings, it served as a fitting sendoff for Kampala Queens, who had already secured the league title two weeks earlier—with three games to spare—under the guidance of Ethiopian head coach Asefa Firew Hailegebreal.

The post-match ceremony was filled with celebration and individual accolades. Shamirah Nalugya was deservedly named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the season for her consistent brilliance in midfield.

Lady Doves FC midfielder Resty Kobusobozi clinched the Golden Boot after netting 17 goals across the season. Kampala Queens’ dependable shot-stopper Daisy Nakaziro walked away with the Best Goalkeeper award, while Lady Doves were recognized with the Fair Play Award.

It was a season to remember for Kampala Queens, who reaffirmed their status as the top force in Ugandan women’s football with style, consistency, and team spirit.
