Ghana Premier League strugglers have made a passionate appeal to the Ghana Football Association to ensure fair treatment and officiating of their last games as the season draws to a close.
The Tamale-based club currently sit 15th on the league table with 32 points, the same as Accra Lions, with three games to draw the curtains on the 2024/25 league season.
Sitting above Karela in 14th and 13th positions are Vision FC and Holy Stars on 33 and 36 points respectively. In light of this tight relegation battle, Karela's management has urged the Ghana FA to guarantee fair officiating in the remaining fixtures.
Karela United’s requests include a live telecast of their four remaining matches to ensure transparency and accountability. They further appeal for the appointment of a FIFA-accredited referee to officiate their matches in order to ensure impartiality.
A close source in the club told Pan-Africa Football that, an official statement on their appeal to the Ghana Football Association will be released in the coming weeks.
Karela United’s bid to escape relegation looks herculean as they need to record consistent wins to stay afloat. Their next three matches are crackers, in week 31 at home to Medeama on May 16 before taking on fellow strugglers Vision FC a week later.
The last game is at home to Young Apostles with their encounter being against the now-defunct Nsoatreman where they will earn three points due the latter’s withdrawal from the league.
