Vipers SC captain Milton Karisa has candidly revealed the challenges he faced during his time in Morocco, highlighting a painful betrayal by his former agent.
Speaking on NTV Uganda’s Sports Knight on Monday, Karisa shared the struggles he encountered while playing for Moroccan side Mouloudia d’Oujda.
He said his first professional experience abroad was marred by an agent who prioritized money over his welfare and career growth. “When I left Vipers for Morocco, I was excited as it was my first time going professional outside Uganda. But things didn’t turn out as I expected, and I faced many challenges,” Karisa explained.
“The agent I had back then cared more about money than my career, and that’s where everything started to go wrong.”
Karisa had made the switch to the North African club in September 2018 after a standout 2017/18 campaign with Vipers, in which he scored 15 goals in 48 appearances.
Despite his promise, his time in Morocco was underwhelming, with only 22 appearances and four goals to his name before returning to Uganda in February 2020. Back at Vipers, Karisa has since re-established himself as a key figure.
In the recently concluded league season, he played a pivotal role in guiding the Venoms to their seventh league title. Looking ahead, Karisa will captain Vipers in the Stanbic Uganda Cup final against KCCA FC on Saturday, 31st May 2025, at FUFA Kadiba Stadium, with the club aiming for a second domestic double in three seasons.
