Kaze confirms Mako and Chislett available for Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has provided a positive squad update, confirming that defender Paseka Mako and midfielder Ethan Chislett are both available for selection ahead of the team’s match against Polokwane City FC.

Speaking to the media while head coach Nasreddine Nabi is in Tunisia on a family emergency, Kaze confirmed that Mako has recovered from a broken arm. The injury had kept him out of the pre-season tour, the Toyota Cup, and the club’s opening league game.

Kaze also announced that Chislett, who missed the 2-0 win over Stellenbosch FC, is now eligible to play after successfully obtaining his South African passport, which allows him to be registered as a local player.

The availability of Mako and Chislett, along with the return of Pule Mmodi from suspension and Ashley Du Preez from a minor knock, gives the Chiefs a significant boost.

“We are going to have a couple of players back from different setbacks,” said Kaze. “Mmodi is back from his suspension, and Ethan is available for selection after his paper has been resolved. Mako, as well, is available for selection after being cleared by the medical staff. I think that we are in a very good space for tomorrow’s game.”

However, the club is still awaiting international clearances for new signings Flavio Silva and Nkanyiso Shinga.

The Chiefs will host Polokwane City FC at FNB Stadium on Wednesday evening at 19:30. Kaze emphasised the importance of the match, saying, “We know what we’ve been lacking from last season, the consistency. This is why tomorrow’s game for us is very important.”
