KCCA FC sealed their place in the Stanbic Uganda Cup semifinals with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Kaaro Karungi at Kyamate Stadium on Saturday.
The Kasasiro Boys, under coach Jackson Magera, showed resilience on the road, with goals from Derrick Nsibambi and Usama Arafat on either side of halftime securing the win.
Nsibambi opened the scoring three minutes before the break, his deflected header wrong-footing the goalkeeper and finding the back of the net.
However, a heavy downpour at the start of the second half delayed proceedings at Kyamate, disrupting momentum for both sides. Once play resumed, the hosts responded swiftly. Clinton Kamugisha leveled matters just three minutes into the second half, sending the home crowd into celebration.
But KCCA FC regained control soon after. Usama Arafat calmly restored the lead in the 59th minute with a composed finish, ensuring the 10-time competition winners became the first side to book a spot in this season’s semifinals.
Meanwhile, action in the quarterfinals continues tomorrow as defending champions Kitara FC face BUL FC for another semifinal slot. On Easter Monday, SC Villa will visit Kitende to take on Vipers SC in a highly anticipated clash.
The quarter-final round will conclude on Tuesday with a tie between Police FC and Kataka FC.
