KCCA FC eye reunion with versatile defender

KCCA FC are closing in on a reunion with former defender Herbert Achai, who is expected to return to the Lugogo outfit during the ongoing transfer window.

Achai parted ways with KCCA FC in 2024 after the expiration of his contract and went on to sign a one-year deal with Express FC.

At Wankulukuku, he became a key figure in the squad, impressing with consistent performances at both left back and in central defence.

His standout displays for the Red Eagles in the recently concluded Uganda Premier League season have reignited KCCA FC’s interest, and the 13-time champions are now eager to bring him back into the fold.

During his previous stint at KCCA, Achai held a leadership role, serving as one of the team’s assistant captains—a testament to his character and influence within the squad.

KCCA FC, who are currently in the market for a new head coach, concluded the 2024/25 season in fifth place with 50 points—19 behind champions Vipers SC. They also reached the final of the Stanbic Uganda Cup, where they were defeated 2-0 by Vipers at Kadiba Stadium in Mengo.
