KCCA FC have confirmed the return of experienced goalkeeper Charles Lukwago, who has signed a two-year contract with the Lugogo-based side.
Lukwago, who captained KCCA during his first stint between 2017 and 2021 before moving to Ethiopian giants St. George, re-joins the club as a free agent.
His most recent spell was with South Africa’s Venda Academy FC, where his contract expired in June.
He was on the verge of sealing a deal with Siwelele FC (formerly SuperSport United) in South Africa, but the transfer collapsed in its final stages, paving the way for his homecoming.
His return offers a major boost to KCCA’s goalkeeping department, which relied heavily on Mutwalib Mugolofa last season. A tried-and-tested shot-stopper, Lukwago also brings valuable national team experience, having featured for the Uganda Cranes across different competitions.
Over the years, he has played for several clubs in the Uganda Premier League including Lweza, Victoria University, and Proline FC, as well as Ethiopia’s Hawassa City, before his first stint with KCCA elevated him to the top ranks of Ugandan football.
Lukwago becomes the latest addition in a busy transfer window for the Kasasiro Boys, joining Enock Walusimbi, Rogers Mugisha, Lazaro Bwambale, Ivan Ahimbisibwe, and Herbert Achai.
