KCCA FC are expected to hold a crucial meeting this week to determine the future of interim coach Jackson Kaddu Magera, as the club continues its search for a new head coach.
The internal review meeting, set by the KCCA FC board, comes in the wake of a disappointing season that saw the Lugogo-based side finish fifth in the Uganda Premier League with 50 points—19 behind champions Vipers SC. The 13-time league winners have now gone six years without a major trophy, their last silverware being the CECAFA Kagame Cup in 2019.
Magera, who stepped in after the departure of Abdallah Mubiru, managed to guide the team to the Stanbic Uganda Cup final, where they fell short against Vipers SC. Despite failing to secure silverware, his interim stint has raised questions about his possible retention—either in a full-time or assistant role.
Sources close to the club reveal that the board is considering multiple options, including keeping Magera as an assistant coach for the upcoming season. However, a new permanent head coach is expected to be appointed.
Former SC Villa coach Dusan Stojanovic has emerged as the frontrunner for the job. The Serbian tactician is currently unattached and has been strongly linked with a move to the Kasasiro Boys.
Meanwhile, KCCA FC faces uncertainty on the squad front, with seven players out of contract. These include Usama Arafat, Sadat Anaku, Filbert Obenchan, Joao Gabriel Esteves Cardoso, Etienne Katenga, Musitafa Mujuzi, and Umar Lutalo—decisions on their futures are also expected in the coming weeks.
