The NPFL ruled that the experienced tactician exhibited gross misconduct toward a match official during Bendel Insurance’s 2-2 draw with Plateau United last weekend, an act that violates the principles of fair play and discipline.
Similarly, Bendel Insurance was charged with breaching the NPFL framework and rules during the same encounter.
In addition to the sanctions imposed on the coach, Bendel Insurance Football Club has been fined a total of ₦5 million for various breaches relating to the incident.
The breakdown of the fines includes ₦2 million for failing to provide adequate and effective security, and ₦1 million for unsporting behavior deemed capable of bringing the game into disrepute.
Furthermore, the club has been fined ₦2 million for the detention of match officials for 40 minutes following the match.
The NPFL also ruled that the Benin Arsenals must play their next three home matches behind closed doors, citing crowd-related issues and the poor handling of the situation as key contributing factors.
