Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo has sealed a transfer move to Romanian club CFR Cluj after parting ways with Turkish Süper Lig outfit Kasimpasa in February.

Announcing the arrival of the Super Eagles defender, club President Cristi Balaj said: “He is a player who has 69 appearances for the Nigerian national team. He had a medical situation.

“The important thing is to get back on track, to prepare. He had a problem with cleaning his meniscus. If he returns to the circuit, it will be good for everyone. When you are captain of the Nigerian national team, you can’t help but have quality. He plays in central defence.”

Omeruo, primarily a center-back, can also play right-back. His defensive skills, including his ability to read the game and intercept plays, make him a valuable asset.

He debuted for Nigeria at 19, won the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) at 20, and has participated in major tournaments including the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup and the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

He was part of the Super Eagles squad that finished as runners-up at the 2023 AFCON.
