Kenneth Semakula seals move to Kuwait Premier League side

Uganda Cranes defender Kenneth Semakula has taken the next big step in his football career, officially signing a two-year contract with Kuwait Premier League side Al Arabi SC.

The move comes after his brief but enriching stint with Tunisian giants Club Africain, where he made 20 appearances and gained valuable experience in the competitive North African football scene. His latest switch highlights the increasing international demand for Ugandan talent, especially in North Africa, the Gulf region, and Europe.

A versatile and composed player known for his aerial dominance and tough tackling, Semakula can seamlessly slot in both central defense and midfield. His adaptability and consistency have seen him rise through the football ranks — from Uganda Premier League side SC Villa to becoming a dependable figure for the Uganda Cranes.

At national team level, Semakula has grown into a key part of coach Paul Put’s defensive setup. Whether deployed at right-back or center-back, he’s frequently trusted to marshal the backline alongside seasoned teammates, showcasing maturity beyond his years.

His transfer to the Middle East also mirrors a growing trend among East African footballers seeking new challenges and financial stability in Gulf leagues, which continue to attract talent from across the continent.

As he embarks on this new journey with Al Arabi SC, Semakula’s move represents not just personal progress but also a testament to the expanding footprint of Ugandan football on the global stage.
