Kenya national team forward Benson Omalla is clubless once again after he parted ways with Cambodian Premier League side Visakha FC.
The former Gor Mahia striker played for the club for only five months having joined them after penning a three-year renewable contract on July 5. He joined the team after leaving the record Kenyan Premier League champions, who were not able to renew his contract.
A statement from Visakha confirmed Omalla’s exit: “Thank you, player Benson Ochieng, for your hard work and dedication in helping our club over the past period.
“We wish Benson the very best of luck and continued success in his career going forward.”
Omalla managed only eight appearances for Visakha, and scored three goals.
Meanwhile, Gor Mahia patron Eliud Owalo has assured Plascon Paints, the club’s new sponsors that they are partnering with one of Kenya’s strongest and most historic sporting brands – one that guarantees mutual value, visibility, and growth.
Owalo also took the opportunity to rally the private sector to invest in community-based football clubs, firmly believing that the future of Kenyan football lies in strong, well-managed community teams. This is the foundation upon which a formidable Harambee Stars will be built.
“Our vision is bold and deliberate: to transform Gor Mahia FC into the biggest and most successful club in Africa. As part of this journey, we are opening our doors to more sponsors in the New Year as we continue the transition of Gor Mahia into a fully-fledged corporate entity.
“We are particularly seeking partnerships to support key infrastructure projects, including the construction of a modern club stadium,” said Owalo.
The signing ceremony was attended by Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier, Secretary General Nick Arum, treasurer Gerphas Okuku, the technical bench led by head coach Charles Ajannor, plus the playing unit.
