The Kenya national team (Harambee Stars) produced a superb first half to sink Chad 2-1 in an international friendly match at Stade de Marrakech in Morocco on Tuesday.
The East African nation went into the fixture seeking to win having drawn with the same side 0-0 in the first friendly at the same venue on Saturday.
Kenya head coach Benni McCarthy made nine changes to his starting XI and it was debutant Emmanuel Osoro, who scored the opener in the 18th minute. Kenya continued to press Chad and they doubled their lead when another debutant David Sakwa found the back of the net in the 44th minute.
Harambee Stars went into the half-time break with a 2-0 advantage and they started the second period seeking to take the game beyond Chad. Osoro had another chance to score on the 47th minute when he powered home a free-header but his effort went inches wide.
Another great chance for Kenya fell to Sakwa, who after evading his markers shot wide. Kenya suffered a blow when Chad levelled matters in the 69th minute. Ali Mahamat Adam escaped his markers to meet a cross from the middle of play and he glanced the headers past goalkeeper Farouk Shikhalo.
Kenya used the friendly as part of preparations for their remaining 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures against Gambia and Seychelles on September. Kenya is also fine tuning for the 2024 Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) that they will co-host alongside Uganda and Tanzania in August.
