Kenyan giants Gor Mahia part ways with Congolese striker Gedeon Bendeka

Former Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League champions Gor Mahia has confirmed parting ways with Congolese striker Gedeon Bendeka.

In the statement, the club said: “We have parted ways with striker Gedeon Bendeka on mutual agreement. We are grateful for his dedication and service and wish him the very best in his endeavours.”

Bendeka joined Gor Mahia in June 2024, after agreeing to a two-year contract from Rwanda’s Etincelles FC. He was one of the club’s new signings in a recruitment drive that also included Samuel Onyango from Kenya Police FC (formerly City Stars), Chris Akena (Apollon, Greece), Ghanaian Enock Morrison (Asante Kotoko, Ghana), and defender Alphonce Omija (Dhofar, Oman).

His exit comes a few days after Gor Mahia announced the signing of defender Michael Kibwage from Tusker and Lewis Bandi from AFC Leopards: “We announce the signing of Michael Kibwage on a two-year contract; Kibwage is from Tusker FC and currently in Harambee Stars’ CHAN squad.”

On signing Bandi, the record Kenyan champions said: “We are pleased to announce the signing of Lewis Bandi on a two-year contract; defender Bandi is from AFC Leopards and currently in Harambee Stars’ CHAN squad.”

Meanwhile, Gor Mahia rivals AFC Leopards AFC Leopards have secured the signature of Uganda U20 striker Samuel Ssenyonjo, beating Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko to his services.

Ssenyonjo, who netted 12 goals for Express FC last season, finished as the 4th top scorer in the 2024/25 Ugandan Premier League, showcasing his sharp eye for goal and natural striking instinct.

While Asante Kotoko had expressed interest, their demand for a trial period was rejected by the player’s camp—clearing the path for AFC Leopards to swoop in.
