After two-and-a-half seasons in Swedish football, Kenya national team midfielder Timothy Ouma completed a transfer to mainland Europe this week with Czech giants Slavia Prague.

The 20-year-old was rewarded for his steady progress at Allsvenskan side IF Elfsborg, with Slavia reportedly parting ways with €2 million to acquire the former Nairobi City Stars player. Ouma joins a Slavia side that continues to invest heavily in African talent including the likes of Nigerian players Igo Ogbu and David Moses, rising Senegalese attacker El Hadji Malick Diouf and Liberia national team stars Oscar Dorley and Divine Teah.

Ouma made 41 appearances in all competitions during his time with Elfsborg, scoring 3 goals and providing 3 assists. After playing a bit part role as Elfsborg finished runner-up in the 2023 Allsvenskan campaign, he became a regular starter during the 2024 season and also participated in the club's UEFA Europa League campaign with 13 appearances in continental competition (2 goals, 1 assist).

Like Elfsborg, Slavia failed to progress from the league phase of the Europa League but are enjoying a fruitful domestic campaign in Czechia's top division Chance liga. The Prague club are seven points clear at the top of the table and will return to league action on Sunday against Mlada Boleslav after a one-and-a-half month break.
