His decision to join the Msimbazi Reds comes just a few days after he left Harambee Stars camp, as they prepared for their debut campaign at the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) which kicked off on Saturday.

When asked why Bajaber, who the previous season had helped Kenya Police FC to lift their maiden Kenyan Premier League title had left camp, Harambee Stars coach Benni McCarthy said: “He has been nursing an injury, but now we thought hopefully we will be able to use him in the group stages, and he was one of the players, who was definitely going to start.

“But then the news came that he had an opportunity to sign for a top club in Africa, Simba, so instead of keeping the player here, around us, we allowed him to go and get necessary treatment at his new club and get to settle in quickly.”

Simba announced his arrival by saying: “Welcome to Simba SC, Mohamed Bajaber.”

Bajaber has joined a list of other Kenyan players to have played for Simba including midfielder Francis Kahata and defender Joash Onyango. Bajaber made his full debut for Kenya under McCarthy during the World Cup qualifying fixture against Gambia which ended in a 3-3 draw.

He scored during the game to help Kenya rally for the draw.
