Kenya national team Harambee Stars will be in action during the FIFA international windows this year after being confirmed for the FIFA Series, a global initiative aimed at enhancing competitive exposure for national teams across different confederations.
In a statement from Football Kenya Federation (FKF), Kenya has been drawn in Group A alongside Estonia, Grenada and hosts Rwanda, with the matches set to be played in Kigali, Rwanda from March 23-31.
The series will see teams grouped together to play friendly matches in a centralized venue, offering a unique opportunity for intercontinental football engagement. The presence of teams from Europe, the Caribbean and Africa underline the FIFA Series’ objective of promoting cross-confederation competition.
Each group in the FIFA Series brings together national teams from different confederations in a friendly-match format.
The concept is designed to provide meaningful international competition while avoiding congestion in the international match calendar, ensuring teams benefit from quality opposition without additional fixture strain.
For Harambee Stars, the series provides a valuable platform to prepare for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2027, which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
The matches will allow the technical bench to assess players, build team chemistry and expose the squad to diverse styles of play as preparations for the continental showpiece gather momentum.
