The prolific striker makes his return to the Uganda Premier League as a free agent, just days after parting ways with Ethiopian outfit Ethiopia Bunna FC.
His arrival is widely viewed as a major statement of intent from the Hoima-based side as they intensify their push for domestic silverware.
Currently coached by Wasswa Bbosa, Kitara sit just two points behind league leaders Vipers SC, a scenario that further fuels belief that a serious title challenge is within reach.
Shaban’s signing is expected to significantly ease the attacking responsibility that had largely fallen on Patrick Kaddu, with the new recruit bringing proven pedigree and experience at the highest level.
Widely regarded as one of Uganda’s deadliest forwards, Shaban has consistently delivered goals wherever he has played in the Uganda Premier League.
His scoring exploits were notably showcased during successful spells at Onduparaka FC and KCCA FC, where he featured twice for each club.
Beyond Uganda, Shaban boasts an impressive résumé that includes stints with Vipers SC, Moroccan heavyweights Raja Casablanca, and Libyan sides Al Hilal Benghazi and Al Anwar.
With the league race heating up, Kitara’s acquisition of Shaban could prove to be the missing piece in their quest to transform title dreams into reality.
