Congolese striker Kodjo Laba delivered a masterclass in finishing to guide Al Ain to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Khor Fakkan at Hazza bin Zayed Stadium, in Round 4 of the UAE Pro League.
At the end of the first half, Kodjo broke the deadlock just two minutes into the stoppage time with a strike from inside the box in the 47th minute. He doubled his tally in the 58th minute, heading home from a fine cross, before completing his hat-trick from the penalty spot in the 79th minute.
The hat-trick takes Kodjo Laba’s tally to seven goals this season, cementing his place at the top of the league’s scoring chart.
Senegalese youngster Amadu Niang, aged 20, provided the assist for Laba’s second goal, while fellow Egyptian defender Ramy Rabia and 20-year-old Guinean Abdoul Traore featured from the start and played the full 90 minutes for Al Ain.
With this result, Al Ain move to the summit of the UAE Pro League standings with 10 points, while Khor Fakkan sit in 10th place on 4 points.
