Togolese striker Kodjo Laba’s shirt, worn as he became Al Ain’s all-time top scorer, was sold for a record AED 1 million (approximately $272,000) in a charity auction, the UAE Pro League announced.
The auction was extended by more five hours due to overwhelming demand. Kodjo Laba netted a hat-trick against Khor Fakkan in Round 4 of the league, taking his tally to 125 goals for Al Ain and surpassing club legend Ahmed Abdullah’s long-standing record of 122 goals set between 1978 and 1995.
In addition to the historic shirt, the match ball from the hat-trick was also sold, fetching AED 133,500 (around $36,000).
Since joining Al Ain from Moroccan side RS Berkane in 2019, Kodjo Laba has firmly established himself as one of the Arabian Gulf League’s most prolific forwards. He has claimed the Golden Boot on four occasions (2020, 2022, 2023, and 2025) and currently leads this season’s scoring chart with seven goals, three ahead of Moroccan striker Karim El Berkaoui of Al Dhafra.
