Ghana’s Kohn issues fearless 2026 World Cup proclamation

Ghana defender, Derrick Arthur Kohn has made a firm call ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be co-hosted by Canada, USA and Mexico.

The FC Union Berlin left-back made his Black Stars debut in the two international friendlies against Japan and Korea in November after administrative hiccups delayed his nationality switch from Germany.

The 26-year-old says the four time African champions must not press the panic button when they come up against Group L favorites England.

“Of course they are very good [and] maybe they are [one of] the favorite teams in the World Cup with a lot of other nations but we are Ghana [and] we don’t have to make us small,” Derrick Arthur Kohn told Sporty FM.

“When I talk to other guys, they say that Ghana is a really good team, really a good nation and like I said we are not alone on the pitch so we need the whole nation to beat England so I think this is the most important thing.

The former Galatasaray, Werder Bremen and Hannover defender expressed readiness to give his all when called upon to face any of the group opponents.

“Also when a small club is playing against the bigger club sometimes miracles can happen so I don’t fear England, I always wanted to play the best so I’m ready for England, I’m ready for Panama, I’m ready for Croatia.”

The Black Stars booked their fifth World Cup after topping Group I with 25 points from 10 qualifying matches.

Ghana is paired in Group L against Europeans England and Croatia as well as CONCACAF representatives Panama. The 2010 quarter finalists will open their campaign against Panama before subsequent clashes against England and Croatia.
