Veteran coach Maxwell Konadu has been appointed as head trainer of Ghana’s U-20 men’s national team, the Black Satellites. Konadu, who once coached Ghana’s senior “B” team, replaces Desmond Ofei who previously led the side.
Konadu’s club coaching experience includes stints at top-flight Ghana Premier League sides, Asante Kotoko, Eleven Wonders, Legon Cities and most recently the defunct Nsoatreman FC.
The former Ghana international guided Kotoko to the Ghana Premier League title in 2012 and won the President’s Cup in 2019. He led Nsoatreman FC’s historic triumph in the 2023/24 MTN FA Cup, a feat that qualified them for the CAF Confederation Cup before leaving to join South Africa club, Black Leopards FC.
He coached the Black Galaxies to glory in the WAFU Championship, first in 2013 and again in 2017. He served as an assistant coach under current Sudan national team trainer James Kwesi Appiah and former Chelsea manager Avram Grant during the Israeli coach’s time in charge of the Black Stars. Konadu will be assisted by Nations FC deputy coach Johnson Smith and Dreams FC head coach Winfred Dormon.
