Head coach of Asante Kotoko, Karim Zito, is over the moon following their 2-0 win over Eleven Wonders in match week 15 of the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday.
The Porcupine Warriors shot themselves ahead when Peter Amidu Acquah scored from inside the penalty area with just 17 minutes played at the Legon Sports Stadium.
The record Ghana Premier League holders doubled their tally late in the game with substitute Johnson Owusu, keeping Asante Kotoko in the top two after 15 games.
Kotoko coach Karim Zito expressed the confidence that, the win boosts their chances of keeping the chase on the league title.
“My happiness lies in the chase for our league title, but not that we’ve beaten them, because it’s not beyond our ability and capability to beat them, but football as it is, anything can happen, nobody can determine what football can give you any time, any moment.
“So my happiness lies in the step ahead of where we are today before the game so I’m very happy that we’ve won [but] the problem was that I didn’t exactly what we learnt, I had wanted them to open fire but at the end of the day what matters most is for you to win and you know how difficult it is for Kotoko when playing at Legon Stadium so if we were able to win today it’s a plus.”
Asante Kotoko had won just one match in six outings prior to meeting Eleven Wonders, and the victory now pushes them into second on 27 points, same as Medeama and one behind leaders Aduana FC.
