Ghana forward, Mohammed Kudus was minutes away from lifting the UEFA Super Cup with Tottenham Hotspur but last minute goals from Paris Saint-Germain’s Lee Kang-in and Goncalo Ramos shattered that dream.
Spurs shot themselves ahead in the 39th minute through Micky van de Ven before Cristian Romero doubled their lead in the 48th minute to settle the game 2-2 at the Bluenergy Stadium in Italy on Wednesday.
The much anticipated clash traveled into the penalty shootouts with PSG claiming an important 4-3 penalty shootout victory to add the trophy to the UEFA Champions League.
Kudus was making his first competitive appearance for the club since his summer transfer move from West Ham United – coming close in the first half after his header rattled the post.
Kudus said: “It is disappointing to lose the game in the end. This is a big lesson to stay focused for the whole 90 minutes but I am really proud of the team for their work ethic, their energy because I think we had them for most part of the game, just the last part we need to keep full concentration. We take this as a lesson. We have a game at the weekend and we have full focus on that,” he said after the game.
Kudus will be making his Premier League debut for Spurs on Saturday against returnees Burnley.
