Mohammed Kudus is turning his attention to the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after his club side, Tottenham Hotspur, suffered a frustrating 1-0 loss to Bournemouth in the English Premier League.
The Ghanaian forward, who joined Spurs from West Ham United, played the full 90 minutes as the team was defeated by the Cherries at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in North London on Saturday.
The 25-year-old has featured in all three of Spurs’ opening league matches but is still searching for his first goal for the club. Despite the recent loss, Thomas Frank’s side has had a strong start to the season, winning two of their three matches.
With the international break approaching, Kudus will now join up with the Ghanaian National Team, with their crucial FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Mali on the horizon.
“I think playing for your country is also a massive part of us being players, representing your nation. So it’s very, very important to me,” he said after Tottenham’s game against Bournemouth.
“I think after the loss today, it’s good to get our way to refresh our mind and then come back fresh again,” he added.
The Black Stars will travel to N’Djamena to play Chad on September 4 before hosting Mali in Accra four days later. The four time African champions lead Group I with 15 points – two better than Comoros.
Ghana needs victories in the two matches to secure their place at the World Cup in North America next year in Canada, USA and Mexico.
