La Liga: Ounahi scores in Girona’s thrashing of Athletic Bilbao

Azzedine Ounahi scored for Girona against Athletic Bilbao on Saturday in their La Liga clash at the Estadio Municipal de Montilivi. The Catalan side came out as huge 3-0 winners as they created a nine-point gap on relegation battlers Mallorca.

Ounahi, who is in his debut season at Girona, bagged his fourth goal of the season as the Moroccan helped his club cruise past Bilbao. The 25-year-old midfielder scored from inside the box after Claudio Echeverri failed to connect with a good chance. The Argentine’s overhead kick was turned in by Ounahi for the second goal of the match in the 77th minute.

Girona started the game on a bright note as they took an early lead through a strike from Hugo Rincon. Echeverri wrapped up the win with a third goal deep into stoppage time following a poor second interval.

Ounahi joined Girona at the start of the 2025/26 season from Greek side Panathinaikos. In his first season at Girona, the Atlas Lion has scored four goals and assisted two in La Liga. Girona are now 12th with 34 points, whilst Bilbao are tenth with 35 points.
