Langeveldt highlights his Stellenbosch FC’s big role

Veteran goalkeeper Lee Langeveldt has reacted to Stellenbosch FC’s decision to extend his contract by a year going into the forthcoming 2025 -29026 Betway Premiership campaign.

The 38-year-old told the club’s website that he feels honoured to continue his romance with the Western Cape-based team. Steve Barker-led side has renewed the keeper’s deal to eventually transition him into coaching.

Langeveldt will eventually become the club’s goalkeeper coach after winding up his playing career next season, according to a statement from the team.

The keeper has since expressed his delight at the contract extension, saying it gives him an opportunity to act as a role model to his community.

“I am really proud and honoured to continue representing Stellenbosch Football Club as a player, and I know I have a big role and responsibility as a local player to inspire the youth of Stellenbosch,” Langeveldt said.

Langeveldt is the lone survivor from the Stellenbosch squad that secured top-flight league promotion in the 2018/19 season from the National First Division.

Therefore, he has cemented his status as the Western Cape-based club’s legend

“His experience and leadership, combined with a deep-rooted connection to both the club and the wider community, uniquely position him to make a lasting impact both on and off the pitch for Stellenbosch FC,” the club’s statement adds.
