Étoile Sportive du Sahel has named Lassaad Dridi as their new head coach. The Sousse-based club parted ways with Mohamed Mkacher after the end of the season and appointed Dridi as their new trainer ahead of the 2025/26 Tunisian Ligue 1 season.
Mkacher guided the club to a third-place finish, but a sluggish end to the season meant Étoile du Sahel finished the season without any silverware. The club mutually agreed to part ways with Mkacher and quickly replaced him with former coach Dridi.
The 48-year-old coach led Étoile du Sahel in 2021 and has worked at a host of Tunisian clubs during his career. The former defensive midfielder was appointed by CS Sfaxien five months ago but has now left the Sfax outfit to take over Étoile du Sahel for a second stint.
Dridi will be tasked with preparing Étoile du Sahel for the Tunisian Ligue 1 Professionnelle, the Arab Club Champions Cup and the CAF Confederation Cup. A lack of finances could hinder the new coach from bringing in quality players, as the 11-time Tunisian champions hope for a better outcome in the new season.
