Leicester accepts offer from Beşiktaş for Wilfred Ndidi

Leicester City has reportedly accepted a €9.5 million offer from Turkish Süper Lig club Beşiktaş for Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, bringing an end to Ndidi’s seven-year stay at the King Power Stadium.

Despite competition from several other clubs, including fellow Turkish side Fenerbahçe and various teams in the Bundesliga and Premier League, Beşiktaş appears to have won the race for the Nigerian signature.

Reports indicate that the Istanbul club has already agreed on personal terms with Ndidi, offering him a three-year contract with an option for a fourth.

Beşiktaş, under the new management of Ole Gunnar Solskjær, made the acquisition of the 28 year-old a top priority. The Turkish giants are looking to rebuild their squad and strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season, with the Nigerian international seen as a crucial component of their plans.

The transfer fee is a significant increase from an initial €7 million offer that Leicester had rejected earlier in the summer. Ndidi, renowned for his ball-winning abilities and defensive prowess, has been a key figure for Leicester since his arrival in 2017.

He has made 303 appearances for the club, becoming a fan favorite and earning a reputation as one of the Premier League’s most effective defensive midfielders. Last season, despite Leicester’s struggles, Ndidi featured in 30 matches, scoring once and providing five assists, performances that attracted interest from numerous clubs across Europe.

Ndidi is now expected to travel to Istanbul in the coming days to complete his medical examinations and finalize the transfer.
