Lemina reveals Galatasaray dressing room role

Gabonese international Mario Lemina has disclosed the role he is playing in Galatasaray FC’s Trendyol Super League/ Süper Lig title push in Turkey.

Apart from helping the Süper Lig log leaders with creating goals and scoring them, Lemina said he also plays a voluntary advisory role to his team-mates.

The African star says he takes it upon himself to advise Galatasaray FC team-mates on what they need to do to keep the Trendyol Super League championship chase alive.

How Lemina executed his role

The Gabon national team player executed such a role to perfection when he scored for the leaders in their 3-1 victory over Göztepe FC on Wednesday.

Reflecting on the game and what they need going forward, via his club’s website, Lemina said he was happy with the response from the setback of the previous week’s 2-1 loss to Trabzonspor FC.

“It was as if we wanted a rematch of the previous match we played,” the midfielder said. “I think we reflect this. We were eager to win. We need to work intensively. We make mistakes on the field. We need to fix these and miss fewer goals.”

Gabonese midfielder advises fellow players

The Gabon attacker then explained what he usually tells his fellow players especially now that the pursuit of the Süper Lig title has intensified.

“When we look at the players in general, I give them some advice and thanks to them, they listen to me. We worked on these issues, especially yesterday [Tuesday] in training, and we were able to see the reflections of this on the field,” Lemina added.

“We need to concentrate in the same way and continue our work in the next period. But it’s not just individual; As a team, we must work with the same discipline and focus. We must continue on our way together, with the same seriousness and concentration.”

Galatasaray are now four points clear of Istanbul rivals and closest contenders Fenerbahçe as well as Trabzonspor, who are tied on 63 points.

The pacesetters are now preparing for the next league assignment against Kocaelispor FC on Sunday.
