Nigerian defender Leon Balogun has shared an emotional farewell message with Rangers fans, confirming his departure from the club as the 2024/25 season of the Scottish League came to an end.
Rangers have decided not to offer Leon Balogun a contract extension, meaning the Nigerian defender will depart the club at the end of June. This marks the conclusion of his second stint with Barry Ferguson's side, which began two years ago.
The centre-back took to the social media to announce his departure.
“It’s that time again. No caption could summarise all that is going through my mind as I’m writing these lines. It’s been nothing short of an honour, a pleasure and a great, great privilege to represent this massive club – twice.”
The 36-year-old initially joined Rangers in 2020, making 65 appearances during his first spell at the club. The defender won the Scottish Premiership during the 2020-21 season, following that up with a Scottish Cup title and a runner-up finish in the UEFA Europa League in the 2021-22 season before capturing the Scottish League Cup in the 2022-23 season.
