Lesotho Premier Soccer League heavyweights, Matlama FC have appointed the country's women’s football team coach Shalane Lehohla after snubbing former Kaizer Chiefs stars Patrick Mabedi and Wedson Nyirenda.
The former Amakhosi players had reportedly applied for the coaching job at the Maseru-based team. The duo was part of a 17-man list comprising Nyirenda, former Chiefs youth team coach Thabo Tsutsulupa, his compatriots Bongani Maseko and Morena E. Lothane.
The local contingent of applicants included Thabile Secker, Molebatsi Mothobi. Finnish Steven Polack was also among the applicants, hoping to succeed Halemakale Mahlaha, whose contract expired.
However, Matlama have settled for the Lesotho senior women’s national football team trainer for the head coach post. He has signed a one-year contract.
