The Competitions Committee of the Libyan Football Federation has decided to postpone the Libyan Cup final between Al Ahli Tripoli and Al Ahly Benghazi until tomorrow. The final will now be played on Thursday at the same scheduled time (3:00 PM GMT), with the same refereeing crew, and with the guarantee that Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology will be available.
The Libyan Cup final had originally been set to kick off at 3:00 PM GMT on Wednesday. However, both teams and their technical staffs discovered after the warm-up that the necessary broadcast equipment was not available and that VAR technology was also missing — a clear violation of the agreed conditions for staging the final.
Following a delay that lasted until 5:30 p.m. as officials attempted to find urgent solutions, the television transmission equipment eventually arrived, but VAR remained unavailable. As a result, both teams, in coordination with the Competitions Committee, agreed not to play the match without one of the key tools ensuring refereeing fairness.
The official decision was therefore made to postpone the Libyan Cup final until tomorrow. The match will take place on Thursday at the same previously scheduled time, with VAR technology and TV broadcast equipment in place.
