Libyan Football Federation issues final verdict on Tripoli derby

The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) has officially released its decision regarding the events of the heated Tripoli derby between Al Ahli Tripoli and Al Ittihad, which took place on June 18 as part of the fourth round (second leg) of the second phase of the 2024-2025 Libyan Premier League.

The match was abandoned in the first half following violent clashes between players of both teams after Ittihad’s Naoufel Zerhouni curled in a free kick to open the scoring close to halftime. The referee was forced to halt the game and head to the dressing rooms, citing his inability to identify the individuals responsible for the mass altercation.

Key Decisions Taken by the LFF:

1- Match Result Cancelled

The result of the match has been officially nullified. It will not be counted for either team in the league standings.

2- Yellow Cards Maintained

The yellow cards issued during the abandoned match are confirmed and will be officially recorded. The following players received cautions:

Sanad Mansour Mohamed Al-Warfali (Al Ahli Tripoli) – for rough play

Sanad Mansour Abdelhafidh (Al Ittihad) – for rough play

Noufel Al-Zarhouni (Al Ittihad) – for unsporting behavior

3- Suspensions and Fines

Hamouda El-Masri El-Huwaidi (Al Ittihad): Suspended for 3 consecutive matches and fined 15,000 LYD.

Moaaz Al-Mabrouk Al-Sanousi (Al Ittihad): Suspended for 3 consecutive matches and fined 15,000 LYD.
