Al Ahly Benghazi claimed local bragging rights after defeating city rivals Al Hilal Benghazi 2–1 in the second round of the return phase of the 2025/2026 Libyan League.
The breakthrough came in the 35th minute through Mozambican forward Luis José Miquissone, who made an immediate impact after coming on as a substitute in the 27th minute of the first half. Miquissone unleashed a strike from outside the box to hand Al Ahly the lead.
The visitors doubled their advantage six minutes later when Ashraf Al-Mugsi found the net in the 41st minute from another shot from outside the box, giving Al Ahly a 2–0 advantage heading into halftime.
Al Hilal attempted to mount a comeback and managed to pull one back deep into stoppage time through Moataz Al Mahdi who capitalized on a mistake from Al Ahly’s goalkeeper in the 92nd minute. However, the goal proved insufficient to deny their opponent a derby victory.
Despite the defeat, Al Hilal Benghazi remain top of Group Three with 21 points from 10 matches. Al Ahly Benghazi remain fourth with 18 points, tightening the race in the group standings.
