The final stage of the Libyan Premier League has been disrupted due to violence in the west of the country but the East group based in Benghazi continued on Thursday with Al Ahly Benghazi moving into top spot.

Libyan internationals Suhaib Shafshuf and Fadel Ali Salama (video above) each scored in the first half before Nigerian forward Gabriel Orok confirmed a 3-0 victory for Ahly against defending champions Al Nasr. Ahly now hold top spot as the final stage enters its second half but the group remains tight.

Ahly's rivals, Al Hilal, dropped from top spot to third place following a 1-2 defeat to Al Akhdar. Despite the continued struggles of Angolan star Ary Papel, who is yet to score in the championship stage, Akhdar came from behind to claim victory and move past Hilal into second place courtesy of Abdulsalam Al Fitouri's late match winner.

The only club that appears to be out of the race for a top-2 position and potential qualification to CAF club competition next season is Al Tahaddi. With only two points from their six matches, Al Tahaddi fell to a 1-0 defeat against Al Sadaqa as they continued their winless run in the championship stage.

The East group is scheduled to continue with the seventh round of matches on Monday. The West group based around Tripoli will remain out of action with foreign players evacuated from the participating clubs due to the ongoing violence and instability.
